Louisville, Ky. - - The University of Louisville went through their first double session practice on Monday.
The Cardinals went through a 20-period practice in the morning in full pads and a 22-period practice at night in shorts and shoulder pads.
"The first day of two-a-days is today," Kragthorpe said. "We went through the five days of acclimatization. We've had a good five days under our belt, it was good to get out here for practice six and now we've got to come back and be a consistent performer in the second practice. That's what we talked to our guys about after this practice - we want them to be consistent and dependable."
The defense continues to play aggressive behind defensive coordinator Ron English. The defensive line continues to be the strength of this football team. Seniors Adrian Grady. Earl Heyman and Maurice Mitchell have been disruptive.
On the offensive side, running back Victor Anderson had the run of the day, taking a handoff, went around end, found a little hole and exploded about 70 yards for a score. Wide receivers Scott Long, Josh Chichester, Chris Vaughn and Doug Beaumont have impressed the coaching staff.
Coach Kragthorpe is pleased with how the team's responded to the fast pace of practice.
"You don't want to be a flash in the pan," Kragthorpe said. "Everybody can do it when they feel good and when they are fresh, but you have to be able to perform in the fourth quarter of a day. That's what the second practice is all about. That's basically our fourth quarter of the day, and we have to be able to perform and be consistent when we are tired."
