West Lafayette, Ind. - University of Louisville senior Derek Fathauer was firing a third-round score of 2-under par when play was suspended due to inclement weather conditions at NCAA Men's Golf Championship at Purdue University's windy 7450-yard Kampen Course.
Play was suspended twice in the afternoon due to lightening in the area. It was stopped at 4:15 p.m. and again at 5:53 p.m. The Cardinals will resume play on Saturday morning.
When play was stopped, the Cardinals were tied for 10th place overall with the University of Alabama at 39-over par. The Cardinals were on pace to qualify for the final round when lightening and the threat of a tornado halted play. UCLA leads at 24-over par and USC and Clemson are tied for second.
Fathauer moved up to sixth place overall after he was in the process of shooting 2-under par after 15 holes. Senior Adam Rainaud was 2-over par after the 15th hole and is tied for 13th.
Junior Adam Hadwin was 1-over par as he just finished play on the 16th hole, while freshman Karsten Clements was 7-over par. Senior Daryl Fathauer was 15-over par on the afternoon as he entered play on the 18th hole.
Further information on the continuation of the third round will be announced later in the evening.
