
USA Field Hockey Advances in Kazan Olympic Qualifier

University of Louisville head field hockey coach Pam Bustin, an assistant on the USA Field Hockey team, is currently in Kazan, Russia with the national team as they contend for a spot in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The US will face Netherlands Antilles on Saturday, April 26.
The United States Field Hockey Women's National Team defeated Belgium, 3-2, in the first game of Olympic Qualifier on April 19. They followed with a 7-0 win over host Russia on April 20. The USA defeated France 7-0 on April 22 and a 7-0 win. On April 24, Bustin celebrated her birthday in style as the USA knocked off India 4-0 to secure a spot in the finals and possibly a trip to the Olympics.
The USA Women's National Team (4-0) is the only undefeated team in the tournament. They have outscored their opponents 21-2 and have shut out their last three.
The U.S. faces Netherland Antilles on Saturday, April 26. The U.S. is currently in first place in the tournament standings with 12 points with one game to play and has effectively secured a place in the final with 24 goals scored. Netherlands Antilles would need to defeat the US by double-digit goals on Saturday to push the Americans completely out of the final.
