Mobile, Ala. - The University of Louisville men's golf team won the 12-team Mobile Bay Intercollegiate on Tuesday in Mobile, Ala. The Cardinals won their first tournament of the spring and second since the fall. Louisville carded a 290-295-288=873 to defeat Chattanooga by four strokes and Memphis by six.
Senior Adam Rainaud played the best event of his career to win his first-ever tournament, capturing medalist honors by shooting 74-72-69=215 to win the event by two strokes and beating one of his teammates who came in second.
It was the third win by a Cardinal golfer this year. Daryl Fathauer won the Alister Mackenzie in October and Derek Fathauer won an event last week at the General Hackler.
Senior Derek Fathauer was that teammate who tied for second overall after he shot 72-72-73=217. Senior Daryl Fathauer and junior Adam Hadwin tied for 12th overall by carding 223. Daryl fired 69-76-78=223 and Hadwin shot 77-75-71=223.
Sophomore Lewis Kirton tied for 24th overall with 75-77-75=227.
The Cardinals are back in action on March 27 at the Cincinnati Invitational.
