
Six Cardinals Earn BIG EAST Softball Honors

Providence, R.I. - Six University of Louisville softball players earned All-BIG EAST honors the league announced at the conference banquet Wednesday evening. Senior third baseman Audrey Rendon was named to the first team. Senior shortstop Courtney Moore and sophomore outfielder Kristi Cunningham were selected to the second team. Sophomore Kassie Stanfill and freshmen Kristen Wadwell and Brittany York were named to the third team.
Connecticut outfielder Micah Truax was named the BIG EAST Player of the Year as a sophomore. DePaul senior Tracie Adix earned Pitcher of the Year accolades, while the Blue Demons' freshman pitcher Becca Heteniak was named Rookie of the Year. In addition, the DePaul coaches, led by head coach Eugene Lenti, earned coaching staff of the year recognition.of the year recognition.
Rendon (Pueblo, Colo.) is a four-time first team all conference pick. She currently leads the team and the league with 76 hits, seven triples, and 22 stolen bases. She also owns the school career records for triples (26), stolen bases (82) and hits (277).
Moore (Visalia, Calif.) a three-time all-conference selection, leads the team with 10 home runs, 23 RBI and 29 walks. She owns the career records for home runs (39), runs scored (154) and RBIs (257).
Cunningham (Gallatin, Tenn.) is hitting .324 and is second on the team with six home runs, 37 RBI and 12 stolen bases.
Stanfill (Goodlettsville, Tenn.) has posted a 12-5 record in the circle with a 2.32 ERA and carries a .279 batting average with 31 hits and 17 runs. Wadwell (Sydney, Australia) leads the team with a 13-8 record and a 2.23 ERA. York (Bowling Green, Ky.) is hitting .241 with 21 RBI.
U of L (33-23, 16-4 BIG EAST) earned a No. 3 seed in the BIG EAST tournament and will face sixth-seeded Syracuse (21-30, 9-11) in the opening game of the tournament Thursday at 10 a.m.
