The University of Louisville women's tennis team battled back after dropping the doubles point to beat No. 65-ranked Marshall 4-3 in Saturday in Huntington.
After dropping the top two spots in doubles with Lauren Imre and Robyn White losing 8-3 to Kellie Schmitt and Karolina Soor at No. 1. Natalia Baez and Bianca Gorbea fell 8-5 to Jessica Keener and Yulia Kashelkina at No. 2. Marshall defaulted the No. 3 spot.
In singles, Jo-Ann Van Aerde scored the first point for the Cardinals, when she won 6-2, 6-0. Natalie Laszkowski added a U of L point with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Yulia Kashelkina. Robyn White fell 1-6 in the first set but regrouped to win 6-4, 6-2 over Jessica Keener at No. 4.
The win boosts the Cardinal record to 8-11.
