
Women's Tennis Falls 5-2 to Ohio State

Despite hard-fought wins at No. 3 and No. 5 singles, the University of Louisville women's tennis team fell 5-2 to visiting Ohio State Sunday afternoon at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
"We were pleased by the fine play from Natalie Laszkowski and Bianca Gorbea, who battled to wins for us," said Greg Davis, U of L head coach.
The Cardinals could not push through to win the doubles point. Lauren Imre and Robyn White fell 8-4 to Julie Blackmore and Ally Mueller at No. 1. Jo-Ann Van Aerde and Bianca Gorbea were tipped 8-6 to Sonia Ruzimovsky and Caitlin O'Keefe at No. 2. Natalia Baez and Natalie Laszkowski were edged by Ciara Finucane and Kristin Messmer 8-5 at No. 3.
In singles, Natalie Laszkowski took her match at No. 3 with a 7-5, 6-4 over Ruzimovsky. Bianca Gorbea battled in the longest match of the day, coming from behind after dropping her first match 7-5. She recovered to win 6-4 and then rolled in the 10-3 tiebreaker.
At No. 1, U of L's Lauren Imre fell 6-0 in her first set and she regrouped but fell 7-6 (5) in a battle for the second set with Blackmore. Robyn White fell 7-5, 6-3 at No. 2 to Christina Keesey. Ohio State's Ally Mueller rolled 6-1, 6-2 over Jo-Ann Van Aerde at No. 4. U of L's Natalia Baez fell 6-4, 6-0 at No. 6.
