
Field Hockey Travels to No. 2 Wake Forest

The tenth-ranked University of Louisville field hockey team will face second-ranked Wake Forest University in Winston Salem, N.C. on Sunday, Sept. 10 at 1 p.m.
The Cards moved up four spots to No. 10 in the NFHCA national poll after coming off of a successful weekend at home which included wins over Miami (Ohio) and Dartmouth. Senior midfielder Jessica Javelet was named Big East Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending Sept. 3. Javelet scored two goals and added two assists while helping the Louisville Cardinal defense hold their opponents to 15 shots. Senior forward Missy Briery leads the team in points, with eight this season. Head coach Pam Bustin reached her 100th career win with a 5-1 win over the Big Green of Dartmouth.
The Demon Deacons enter this weekend with wins over Michigan, Stanford, Pacific and Cal. Senior forward, Tracey Scott was named ACC Player of the Week after notching 11 points against Stanford and Pacific. Senior Lauren Crandall recorded her career first hat-trick over Cal and has 8 points this season.
Wake Forest leads the series against Louisville 6-1. In the teams' last meeting, the Demon Deacons earned the victory in a 5-2 win over the Cardinals at Trager Field on October 8, 2005.
The Demon Deacons will open up their home season against the No. 4 Blue Devils of Duke on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 1 p.m.
