
Javelet Named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - - Louisville midfielder Jessica Javelet was tabbed BIG EAST Field Hockey Defensive Player of Week for the period ending Sept. 3. This marks the second consecutive time a U of L player has earned the league's weekly honor.
Javelet, a senior from Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., was instrument in the Cardinal defense as the team held opponents to 15 shots in the games against Miami (Ohio) and Dartmouth. Javelet scored two goals and added two assists. She now has 31 career assists and needs four more to tie former Cardinal All-American Pip Sanders' career record of 35.
U of L (3-1) moved up four spots to No. 10 in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association rankings. The Cards will travel to Winston-Salem, N.C. to play No. 2 Wake Forest (5-0) Sunday, Sept. 10 at 1 p.m.
