LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville football program opened the 2006 campaign on Saturday morning hosting its annual media day activities at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium and the Howard L. Schnellenberger Football Complex. The Cards, ranked 13th in the preseason USAToday Coaches' Poll released on Friday, officially opened practice for the upcoming season on Friday afternoon.
Players and coaches met with members of the local, regional and national media to preview the Cards' second season as a member of the BIG EAST Conference. Prior to the media day responsibilities, Cardinal players and coaches met with the UofL fans and signed autographs during the Fan Day activities.
U of L opens the 2006 season on Sunday, Sept. 3 against Kentucky at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium in Louisville in the annual showdown for the Governor's Cup. The game will kick-off at 8 p.m. EDT and will be televised nationally by ESPN.
