Three Cardinals Advance to US Amateur

Louisville, Ky. -- - Three University of Louisville men's golfers have qualified for the US Amateur Championships on August 21-26 at the Hazeltine Country Club in Minneapolis, Minn. The winner of this event will automatically qualify for the 2007 Masters.

Derek and Daryl Fathauer each qualified last week at the Dye Preserve in Jupiter, Fla. Derek took home medalist honors with 69-66=135, while Daryl was a runnerup at 72-69=141.

Nick Newcomb qualified in St. Louis after shooting 73-70=143. Both Derek and Newcomb made US Public Links Championships earlier this summer so they both have made a pair of USGA events.
