
Three Cardinals Advance to Public Links Championship

LOUISVILLE, Ky.A trio of University of Louisville's men's golfers qualified for the USGA Public Links Championship last weekend.
Sophomore Derek Fathauer and freshman Nicklaus Newcomb each won their tournaments to Bremerton, Washington, for the Public Links Championship on July 10-15.Sophomore Adam Rainaud was a co-medalist.
Fathauer, who played last Thursday and Friday, fired 68-71=139 to earn medalist honors and advance to the Links Championship for the second straight season.
Newcomb, who red-shirted a year ago, fired 139 in his win in Evansville, Indiana, over the weekend. Rainaud tied for first at the Tunxis Plantation CC in Farmington, Conn. "I am very excited for the qualifiers," said head coach Mark Crabtree. "Making anyUSGA event is a challenge and this is a tribute to their hard work and dedication to the game. The Cardinals will be well represented by these young men."
