
Alderson, Daunhauer, Terreberry Earn CRCA National Scholar Athlete Awards

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville rowers Nicole Alderson, Beth Daunhauer and Lisa Terreberry were named Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) National Scholar Athletes for the 2006 season on Monday marking the fifth straight year the Cards have had at least two rowers earn the award.
The award recognizes student-athletes with a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher that competed in 75 percent of her team's 2006 spring races. Also, student-athletes must be upperclassmen in terms of eligibility and their head coaches must be good standing members of the CRCA.
"We're pleased to see our athletes excelling in the classroom," said U of L head coach Richard Ruggieri. "We believe team success could not be possible without an emphasis on academics and time management. As we congratulate our three scholar athletes, it is also important to note that we finished the 2006 season with a team GPA over 3.25 and we're very proud of that as well."
For Terreberry, a senior from Fonthill, Ont., this is the third straight year she has earned this award, while it is the second consecutive honor for Daunhauer, a junior from Louisville, Ky. Alderson, a junior from Carlisle, Ont., is a first-time CRCA National Scholar Athlete Award winner.
In 2006, Terreberry, Daunhauer and Alderson were on the Cards' Varsity 8+ crew which closed the season ranked 20th in the USRowing/CRCA Varsity Eight Coaches Poll released on May 17, the second time in school history the Cardinal rowing program had earned a Top 20 national ranking.
The Cards closed the 2006 rowing season on May 14 with a third-place finish in the South Region at the NCAA Central/South Sprints in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
