Men's Golf Finishes Fourth at Purdue

West Lafayette, Ind. - The Louisville men's golf team tried to come back, but was unable to catch Indiana at the 2006 Boilermaker Invitational on Sunday in West Lafayette, Ind.
Louisville fired a 297 on Sunday, but couldn't make any ground on winner Indiana. Purdue totaled 896 over the three rounds, 14 strokes behind Indiana to place second. Notre Dame finished third (900) and the Cardinals were fourth.
Indiana's Jorge Campillo took home top individual honors after carding a final-round 68. He totaled 212 over the three rounds.
Louisville was led by freshman Adam Hadwin, who tied for fifth-place overall after shooting 76-72-73=221.
Sophomore Daryl Fathauer was tied for 14th overall despite shooting 77 on Sunday. He 78-70-77=225, while his brother Derek was tied for 17th after shooting 76-80-70=226.
Senior Brent Holmes tied for 38th at 78-78-77=233 and sophomore Andrew Freeman was 54th at 78-81-79=238.
The invitational was held at the 7,083-yard, par-72 Kampen Course. The Kampen Course is a Pete Dye design and will host the 2008 NCAA Men's Golf Championships.
The field included Indiana, Iowa State, Louisville, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Toledo, Wichita State and Wisconsin.
