Cards' Stands in Fourth at Purdue Invite

West Lafayette, Ind. - In cold, windy conditions, the Louisville men's golf team is in fourthplace after 36 holes of the 2006 Boilermaker Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind.
The Cardinals got off to a slow start with a 308. As the weather improved, so did Louisville, Shooting a 300 in the afternoon. Indiana set the pace from the opening tee. The Hoosiers fired a 301 in the morning and tournament-low 287 over the second 18 holes to lead the field by 10 strokes. Purdue is second with a total of 598, and Notre Dame is third with 607 with the Cardinals a shot back.
Louisville was led by sophomore Daryl Fathauer and freshman Adam Hadwin, who eached fired 148 and are tied for sixth.
Sophomore Derek Fathauer and senior Brent Holmes are tied for 31st overall after carding 156, while sophomore Amdrew Freeman is tied for 47th with 159.
The invitational is being held at the 7,083-yard, par-72 Kampen Course. The Kampen Course is a Pete Dye design and will host the 2008 NCAA Men's Golf Championships.
The field includes Indiana, Iowa State, Louisville, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Toledo, Wichita State and Wisconsin.
The final round will begin at 8 a.m. on Sunday morning.
