Softball Travels to Kentucky

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - - The No. 21/22 ranked University of Louisville softball team will travel to Lexington, Ky., Wednesday to play the University of Kentucky (21-28).
The Cardinals (30-8) enter the matchup on a four-game winning streak. Their last loss came at the hands of the Wildcats on April 19 when Kentucky defeated Louisville 3-1 at Ulmer Stadium.
Louisville notes • Senior catcher Lacy Wood is on a season and career-high 13 game hitting streak and leads the team with a .414 batting average, 14 doubles and 33 RBI.
• Junior shortstop Courtney Moore follows, hitting .376 with five home runs, 25 RBI and 30 runs scored.
• Junior third baseman Audrey Rendon is third on the team with a .336 average, 28 runs, 3 triples and 13 stolen bases.
• Freshman Kristi Cunningham has a .313 average with 1 runs, four home runs and eight doubles. Michelle Vasquez rounds out the over .300 hitters with a .303 average, nine doubles and 21 RBI.
• Junior RHP Catherine Bishop leads the team with a 19-5 record and a 0.74 ERA. She has 153 strikeouts in 151.1 innings and is holding opponents to a .145 batting average. Sophomore Kady Garrick (8-2) holds a 1.18 ERA and is holding opponents to a .176 batting average with 57 strikeouts in 671.1 innings.
Series record: UK leads 11-5
Last meeting: UK defeated No. 21/23 ranked Louisville 3-1 last Wednesday at Ulmer Stadium. The Cards took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning, but the Wildcats scored three runs in the top of the sixth to take the win.
Scouting the Wildcats:
Kentucky enters the game with a 21-28 record. The Wildcats are coming off of a series with 24th ranked Florida in which they lost the first game 6-2 and won the second 3-2. The Gators took the rubber game 5-3.
UK is batting .246 at a team. The Wildcats have three players batting over .300 with Katie Campbell's .328 average, six home runs and 40 RBI leading the way. Megan Miller (.310) and Brooke Marnitz (.306) round out the top three hitters. Jessica Trueblood (8-15) holds a 3.19 ERA with 105 strikeouts in 133.2 innings.
