
Daunhauer Presented with 2006 Sherrill Brakmeier Award

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Cardinal rower Beth Daunhauer was the named the recipient of the 2006 Sherrill Brakmeier Award as the University of Louisville Athletic Department honored all 550 of its athletes and spirit groups at the annual Spring Sport Banquet Monday evening at the Galt House East.
Daunhauer, a junior from Louisville's Seneca High School, earned the award which is presented each year to a student-athlete who has at least a 3.0 gpa and exemplifies outstanding qualities of leadership, dedication to the community, service and scholarship as well as commitment and loyalty to the University of Louisville.
The athletic department's community service efforts were recognized with the three CardsCARE Awards. The field hockey team amassed the most hours of community service. Swimmers Stephanie Wyatt and Travis Gray logged the most hours of community service individually.

The most outstanding freshman athletes received recognition for their outstanding contribution to their respective teams during their initial season as a Cardinal.

The Sherrill Brakmeier/Clark Wood Awards are presented to student-athletes who have at least a 3.0 gpa and exemplify outstanding qualities of leadership, dedication to the community, service and scholarship as well as commitment and loyalty to the University of Louisville.

The Ed Kallay award is the highest honor presented to U of L seniors and is awarded to the student-athlete who has at least a 2.5 gpa, exemplifies the characteristics of leadership, demonstrates commitment to the community and dedication to excellence and exuberance in their sport.

The keynote speakers, Jeremy Clark of the men's tennis team and Gina Lower of the women's soccer team, were two senior athletes who reflected on their careers as Cardinals, imparting lessons and wisdom they gained being a part of the University of Louisville athletic family.
