DORADO, Puerto Rico. - - The University of Louisville men's golf team fired a team score of 290 in Dorado, Puerto Rico. The Cardinals are in seventh place, but just 10 strokes behind Texas Tech (280) who leads after one round at the Hyatt Plantation Club Intercollegiate.
Texas Tech leads the 11-team field with a team score of 280, followed by Kentucky. Charlotte is currently in third place with a total of 283, while host team Georgia State is fourth with a team score of 288. Georgia Southern and North Florida are tied for fifth with identical score of 289.
Sphomore Daryl Fathauer leads the Cardinals and is tied for sixth in the individual standings after shooting a first-round 70. Derek Fathauer also ranks among the top 15 for the Cardinals. The sophomore from Jensen Beach, Fla., posted a day one score of 71 to tie for 11th. Senior Brent Holmes fired a 74 to tie for 32nd, while freshman Adam Hadwin is tied for 40th with a score of 75. Sophomore Andrew Freeman rounds out the scoring for Louisville with a score of 79 to tie for 57th overall after one day of play.
The three-day event continues Monday, Mar. 6, as the Cardinals tee off at 8:00 a.m.
