UofL Head Coach Rick Pitino
"When the last shot when in, that was what our defense was all about. We didn't want to play that kind of defense, but that was a credit to Georgetown's offense. We got the pace we wanted and if we had made our foul shots, we would have scored 110-115 points. I was happy with the pace of the game and the break. I was disappointed in our man-to-man. We got beat too much and we fouled too much. I was happy with certain people. It was a terrific game for us against great competition. From a shooting standpoint, that is not what we want to see. Georgetown gave us great competition."
(On freshman Derrick Caracter) "I am glad he played because we wouldn't have won without him. I was pleased with Derrick, but I want him to work on the foul shooting. I enjoyed coaching Ellis Myles, but I don' want to go through that again. Derrick has terrific hands and if he keeps running, he is great at the low post. His conditioning is one of his weak areas. He tends to rest when he gets tired. He uses his body well and has good hands."
"I think Georgetown College is a good team with 10 returning players and they are two weeks into their season. I think they're good and they'll win 25 or 26 games."
"I didn't like Sosa's game tonight . Point guards are supposed to be energetic and play smart. You can't keep fouling as a point guard."
