LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Freshman forward Derrick Caracter had 25 points and 11 rebounds to lead Louisville to a 94-92 victory over NAIA Georgetown of Kentucky in an exhibition game Wednesday night.
Edgar Sosa added 15 points and Juan Palacios had 14 for Louisville, which will open the season Nov. 18 against Northwestern State. Justin Taylor and Jason Petrimoulx led Georgetown with 18 points apiece.
The Cards opened the game with a quick 8-0 run, but the pesky Tigers stayed close throughout and trailed by only four at halftime, 50-46. In the second half, Georgetown gained its only lead of the game at 81-80 on a three-point basket by Brian Silverhorn with 5:27 to play.
Louisville regained the lead for good at 82-81 on a Sosa layup with 5:02 left and the Cards held on down the stretch for the win in front of 17,146 at Freedom Hall.
