Louisville, Ky. - The University of Louisville football team was ranked 12th as the Associated Press released their first college football poll of the season Saturday afternoon.
The Cardinals, who are ranked 14th in the USA Today Poll, did receive one first place vote, while top-ranked USC received 60 first place votes.
The vote is believed to be Louisville first-ever first place vote in a football pre-season poll of any kind.
The Cardinals worked out on Saturday morning for two hours and will take off Sunday and Monday in preparation for classes beginning on Monday morning.
Practice will resume on Tuesday for the September 4 opener at the University of Kentucky on ESPN. Gary Bender, Bill Curry and Dave Ryan will call the national TV broadcast.
