
Cardinal Track & Field to Compete at Stan Lyons Invitational

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's and women's track and field teams will continue the 2005 outdoor season at the Stan Lyons Invitational hosted by Butler University on Friday and Saturday in Indianapolis, Ind. The meet is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. EDT on Friday and continue on Saturday at 1 p.m. EDT.
"We're working on getting all of our T's crossed and our I's dotted as we get ready for the Conference USA Championships in a couple of weeks," said U of L head coach Ron Mann. "I feel really good about the way things are going for us in our first season and with where the program is right now. Our kids have been wonderful to work with and they continue to be very receptive of everything our coaching staff asks of them."
The Cards enter this weekend's meet after winning four individual event titles and setting one new school record at last Saturday's Cardinal Invitational in Louisville. U of L's Ify Akubeze (women's long jump), John Blackwell (men's shot put), Brad Keys (men's 110m hurdles) and Antoine Wilson (men's long jump) all won event titles while Aajah Showell set a new school record in the women's 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.11 seconds.
Following this weekend's meet in Indianapolis, U of L will compete at the Billy Hayes Invitational hosted by Indiana University on May 6 in Bloomington, Ind. The Billy Hayes Invite will be the Cards' final meet prior to the Conference USA Outdoor Championships on May 13-14 in Houston, Texas.
