University of Louisville field hockey player Jessica Javelet has been named to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV University Division Women's At-Large first team. She will be eligible for Academic All-America consideration. The district IV team is made up of student-athletes from Division I schools in Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee.
Javelet, a sophomore marketing major from Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., led the team and the Mid-American Conference with 15 goals and 41 points. She was named to the STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I All-America third team, the STX/NFHCA Division I All-West Region first team and was an All-MAC first team selection. Javelet is a two-time member of the NFHCA honor roll and has been named to the Athletic Director's honor roll all four semesters of her college career.
The U of L field hockey team finished the 2004 season as the MAC regular season and tournament champions, earning their second consecutive NCAA postseason bid.
To be nominated, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve and carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher. Team members are selected by a vote of the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) within the district.
