CLEVELAND - The University of Louisville and Kent State were picked by league coaches as co-favorites to win the Mid-American Conference field hockey regular season championship. The Cardinals were picked to repeat as MAC Tournament champions. "It is a great honor to have been chosen to win the MAC championship," said U of L head coach Pam Bustin. "We have worked hard over the years to build a solid reputation and it is nice to be recognized with this preseason honor. This will be an exciting season for our young team." Louisville finished the 2003 season with a 13-10 record after winning the Mid-American Conference tournament and earning the program's first NCAA bid. U of L will return 16 letterwinners from that team including three-time All-MAC selection senior Kimberly Hughes and 2003 MAC All-Tournament team member sophomore Jessica Javelet. The Cardinals will open the season at Michigan State, where they will face 2003 NCAA runner-up Duke on Saturday, August 28 at 11:30 a.m. at Michigan State.
