Daryl and Derek Fathauer have signed national-letters-of-intent with the University of Louisville men's golf team, head coach Mark Crabtree announced on Tuesday.
The twins competed at Martin County High School in Jensen Beach, Fla., guiding their school to a state runner-up finish at the 2003 Florida state championships and a third-place finish in 2002.
Daryl was a 2003 United State Amateur qualifier and was second at the Florida Azalea Amateur. He was three-year letterwinner for Martin County High School, guiding the team to three straight consecutive top three finishes at Florida state high school championships. He was the 2003 Regional Champion with 68(-4) and 72.35 scoring average his senior year.
Derek also qualified for the 2003 United States Amateur Championship and fielded a top 10 finish at the Florida Azalea Amateur. He won the 2002 Jack Nicklaus Jr. championship and was the Scripts Howard Player of the Year.
"I am very pleased with the signing of both Derek and Daryl to begin their collegiate careers next fall for the Cardinals," said Crabtree. "They both come from a very successful high school program in Florida, and have demonstrated their respective abilities to win golf tournaments. I am most impressed with their love of the game and hunger and desire to become top notch college players. I look for both of them to earn playing time next fall."
