LOUISVILLE, Ky. - - The University of Louisville conducted a one-half hour controlled scrimmage on Friday afternoon in Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.
The Cardinals went through various game-like situations, including first down, second and third-down sequences and ended the day with an overtime session. The first team offense and defense went against the second units in the overtime period.
In overtime, the first unit recorded a turnover, but failed to score when the offense missed a field goal. In the second session, Arthur Carmody booted a 27-yard field goal, and the first unit was victorious when the second unit missed a short field goal.
Senior Lionel Gates and red-shirt freshman Reggie Bradshaw each traded touchdowns on the third series. On the fourth period of overtime, the first unit scored on a two-yard run by Eric Shelton and the defense held when red-shirt freshman linebacker Preston Smith picked off a deflected pass.
The Cardinals will workout again on Saturday at Noon.
