LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Freshman Ana Yartseva came off the bench to hit .692 with 10 kills on 13 attempts and four blocks to lead the University of Louisville to a 3-1 win over Georgia in college volleyball at Cardinal Arena.
The Cardinals improved to 5-3 with the 30-28, 31-33, 30-25, 30-19 win. Georgia posts an identical record of 5-3.
"Georgia is the kind of team that will exploit your weaknesses. They were a good test of our ability to make adjustments when something isn't working," said Leonid Yelin.
The Cardinals outhit Georgia .289 to .108 in the first game were only able to win the game by two points. The Cardinals fell behind 15-7 in the second game and tried to battle back but could only force the deuce game before a hitting percentage of .073 took its toll. Cold hitting by both teams marked the third game but the Cardinals managed to build a small lead that was sufficient for the win. Proving that volleyball is a game of momentum, the Cardinals hit .560 in the last game and cruised to a 30-19 win.
Louisville had two players join Yartseva in double figures, with Bing Sun adding 11 and Sonja Percan pitching in 19.
