Louisville, Ky. - Practice Notes The University of Louisville football team held its first practice of the 2003 season Thursday afternoon. The Cards worked out for just over three hours in the initial practice for head coach Bobby Petrino.
"It was fun to get out there and get going," said Petrino. "It was a solid first day on both sides of the ball. We made a lot of good plays. I thought Stefan (LeFors) had a good day throwing the football, and Joshua Tinch made some nice plays."
Junior quarterback Stefan LeFors and wide receiver Joshua Tinch had solid opening day practices. LeFors looked sharp, hitting on most of his throws, while Tinch made a couple of acrobatic catches along the sidelline.
The Cardinals, who are coming off a 7-6 season, open the season Aug. 31 by traveling to face Kentucky at 6:30 p.m.
The team's next practice will be Friday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.

WIDE RECEIVER Joshua Tinch
"Coach Petrino is trying to put us through an NFL style workout. He wants the receivers to catch the ball and sprint 25 yards like we're trying to score. It was a goood workout. It was constant movement out there, but it was fun to finally get out on the field."
"It was different out there today. I'm in the best shape of my career. I dropped a few pounds this summer and I feel really good. I 'm taking it day-by-day and trying to get better."
