Louisville, Ky. - The University of Louisville football team completed its second set of two-a-day practices at the Cardinal practice facility on Thursday afternoon. In heat that reached almost 90 degrees, the Cardinals worked out twice in preparation for its first scrimmage of the season on Saturday.
"We're getting better each and every practice," said head coach Bobby Petrino. "Stefan LeFors is making good reads and is getting the ball out of his hand early. I like that the guys are really putting forth effort with each practice. I like our progress."
The Cards first offense competed against the first team defense on Thursday. Eric Shelton and Lionel Gates continued to run well, while on the other side of the ball, Tyrone Satterfield has become a tough player to block on defense.
The squad will practice on Friday morning in the last practice that will be open to the public. Saturday's double session is closed to the public. Practices will re-open after the Kentucky contest.
