Louisville, Ky. -
Sophomore Charlie Woo (Toronto, Ont.) of the University of Louisville men's golf team earned a spot in the U.S. Amateur Open with a second-place overall finish at last weekend's qualifying event.
Woo fired a seven-under 67-70 = 137 to earn his first trip to the U.S. Amateur Open, which will be played on August 18-24 at the Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pa.
The sophomore from Toronto was third on the squad last season with an impressive 74.7 stroke average and posted two top 20 finishes a year ago.
"I'm extremely excited that Charlie will be competing in one of the premier golf events in the county," said head coach Mark Crabtree. "Charlie came on for us big last season, and I'm looking forward to watching him compete in this highly competitive situation."
