Rowers Conclude Season at Lexus Sprints

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. - The University of Louisville concluded its fourth season of intercollegiate rowing with a seventh-place finish in the South Region over the weekend at the Seventh Annual Lexus Central/South Region Sprints.
The event, which featured 21 teams from the NCAA South and Central Regions, was held on Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
The Cardinals placed third in the 1st Varsity 8+ "C" Finals with a 2,000-meter time of 6:45.4. Kansas State won the "C" Final in 6:41.9, while Cincinnati was second at 6:43.7.
Louisville's boat consisted of Leslie Walters, Allison Kemphaus, Brooke Spence, Stephanie Hutton, Carmen Noltemeyer, Stephanie George, Jessica Grigsby, Lisa Terreberry and coxswain Christy Ochsner.
Virginia won the 1st Varsity 8+ Grand Final, edging Ohio State by less than one second. Virginia also captured the overall South Region team title with 70 points. Ohio State won the Central Region title and the coveted Lexus Cup after tallying 76 points during the event.
