University of Louisville head field hockey coach Pam Bustin has announced the schedule for the 2003 fall season. The 2003 slate features six teams that finished in the nation's top 20 including 2002 Final Four participants top-ranked Old Dominion and No. 3 Michigan State. The Cards will also play No. 4 Michigan and No. 16 William & Mary in addition to a challenging Mid-American Conference field that includes No. 7 Kent State and No. 17 Central Michigan.
"We will have a mix of solid experience in our returning players combined with the youthful energy of our freshman class," said Bustin. "We open the fall season against 2002 NCAA semifinalist Old Dominion, and will continue to play a very strong schedule throughout the year. September will be exciting, we have seven home matches and host three neutral games, so there will be some quality field hockey at Trager Stadium for fans to enjoy. After we hosted the 2002 NCAA Field Hockey Championship, word got out that we have excellent playing facilities. Schools want to come here to play and we are happy to show off one of the best fields in the country."
The University of Louisville field hockey team finished the 2002 season with a 13-8 record (7-3 MAC). After being ranked as high as No. 4 nationally, they closed the season at No. 11 in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association and captured the school's first the regular season MAC championship.
