University of Louisville softball player Aja Sherman was named Conference USA Co-Pitcher of the Week on March 10.
The sophomore right-hander from Las Vegas, Nev., went 2-0 on the week with a 5-1 win over Morehead and an 8-0 win against Ohio University. In the Ohio game, she posted her first career shutout and no-hitter. It was the first C-USA no-hitter of the 2003 season and U of L's first since Tara McClure held Marshall hitless on April 4, 2001. In her two wins on the week, Sherman scattered six hits struck out 13 batters and issued only one walk in 13 innings pitched. She surrendered only one unearned run for a 0.00 ERA.
Sherman (3-2) was the Cardinals' full-time first baseman last season before taking on additional duties on the mound. She splits time between first base and pitcher.
Louisville (6-7) will travel to Eastern Kentucky on Wednesday, March 12 for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
