Hawaii Defeats Softball 8-0

HONOLULU - HONOLULU - The University of Louisville softball team lost to tournament host Hawaii 2-0 in a late game Friday night in the Chevron Paradise Classic.
Hawaii took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first as Hannah Butler drew a lead off walk, moved to second on Tracie Uchima's sacrifice bunt, advanced to third when Katie Judd drew a walk and scored on a Louisville error.
The Rainbow Wahine added three more runs in the third when Trisha Ramos led off the inning with a base hit and scored on a two-run homer by April White to make the score 3-0. Denise Dahlberg followed with a base hit. She moved to second on Marie Jackson's sacrifice bunt, took third on Noelle Izumi's single and scored with Hannah Butler grounded out to give Hawaii a 4-0 lead.
The Rainbow Wahine added two more runs in the fifth when Stacey Porter singled and moved to second when Ramos reached on a fielder's choice. Crowell's two-run single scored Porter and Ramos to put Hawaii up 6-0.
Hawaii scored another run in the sixth when Uchima singled, stole second and crossed the plate on Porter's base hit to make the score 7-0.
Crowell gave the Rainbow Wahine an 8-0 lead when she led off the top of the seventh with a solo home run.
Aja Sherman (0-1) took the loss, allowing six runs, five earned on seven hits and struck out four in four innings pitched. Offensively, the Cardinals had six hits.
Hawaii pounded out 12 hits in the game. Starter Melissa Coogan got the complete game win, allowing no runs on six hits.
The Cards (0-2) will take on Oklahoma State on Saturday at 2 p.m. (7 p.m. Eastern) and sixth-ranked Washington at Washington at 4 p.m. (9 p.m. Eastern).
