
Hughes Named Field Hockey Player of the Week

CLEVELAND - University of Louisville field hockey player Kim Hughes was named Mid-American Conference Player of the Week for the period ending Sept. 8.
The sophomore defender from Largs North, South Australia, dished out two assists and scored the game-winner in overtime in the Cards' 3-2 win over North Carolina. She was also instrumental in Louisville's 3-1 win over Iowa. Last season, Hughes earned 2001 MAC Freshman of the Year honors.
The fourth-ranked Cardinals (2-0) will play host to No. 7 Wake Forest on Friday, Sept. 13 at 3:00 p.m. at Trager Stadium.
