LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville field hockey team is ranked No. 4 in the 2002 STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I National Coaches Poll. This marks the highest ranking in the history of the U of L field hockey program. Last year the Cards were ranked as high as No. 7 in the NFHCA poll.
"I'm so excited and proud of our team's early accomplishment," said U of L coach Pam Bustin. "Our team understands that they have to work hard to earn this kind of recognition and they have accomplished a lot in just their first two games. We will continue to build on this great start and work towards our goal of competing for a national championship."
Louisville (2-0) opened its season with a 3-2 overtime win over No. 6 North Carolina and a 3-1 win over No. 10 Iowa.
The Cardinals will play host to No. 7 Wake Forest on Friday, Sept. 13 at 3:00 p.m. at Trager Stadium.
