
Field Hockey Tabbed to Finish Second in Mid-American Conference

The University of Louisville field hockey team was picked to finish second in the 2002 Mid-American Conference preseason coaches' poll. Kent State edged the Cards for first place, receiving 30 points to Louisville's 29.
Louisville closed out the 2001 season with a school record 16-5 mark, a 7-3 league record and a third place conference finish. Led by 2001 MAC Coach of the Year Pam Bustin, the Cards were ranked as high as No. 6 in the NCAA poll and stayed in the top 20 the entire season.
The Cardinals return third team All-America goalkeeper, Christy Hershey as well as first team all MAC selections Pip Sanders and Olivia Netzler.
U of L opens the season against No. 4 North Carolina on Sept. 7 in Philadephia at the Temple Field Hockey Tournament.
