
Welgosh Named to Academic All-District Team

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- University of Louisville field hockey player Jen Welgosh was named to the Verizon Academic All-America District IV second team.
The junior from Wapwallopen, Pa. carries a 3.947 GPA in Exercise Science with a minor in Sport Administration. She is a three-time member of the National Field Hockey Coaches Association's Academic Squad and has been on the Dean's List five of her six semesters at U of L. Welgosh started all but one of Louisville's 21 games as a midfielder/defender and scored two goals. The Cardinals (16-5) were ranked as high as No. 7 in the nation and stayed in the top 20 the entire 2001 season.
The district team is made up of student-athletes from Division I schools in Alabama,Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee. To be nominated, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve and carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher.
Team members are selected by a vote of members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) within the district.
