Field Hockey Players Earn National Academic Honors

Eight University of Louisville field hockey players have been named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association National Academic Squad. Members of the squad must have attained a minimum overall GPA of 3.30 through the first semester of the 2001-02 academic year and must be a starter or key reserve.
The U of L members of the NFHCA National Academic Squad include: junior, Keri Beckhorn (Tunkhannock, Pa.), sophomore Elisa Eshelman (Lititz, Pa.), junior Joanie Frame (Louisville, Ky.)' sophomore Christy Hershey (Palmyra, Pa.), sophomore Shannon Kemp (Louisville, Ky.), sophomore Casey Lehman (Palmyra, Pa.), junior Susan Sattazahn (Palmyra, Pa.) and junior Jen Welgosh (Wapwallopen, Pa.).
The U of L field hockey team finished the season with a program-best record of 16-5 (7-3 Mid-American Conference). The Cardinals spent the entire season ranked in the NCAA and NFHCA top 20, with their highest ranking at No. 6. They finished the season at 14 in both polls.
