
Field Hockey Inks Two

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- - University of Louisville head field hockey coach Pam Bustin has announced that two student-athletes have signed their National Letters of Intent to continue their careers at U of L.
Jen Kastelic, a midfielder from Hummelstown, Pa., was co-captain of the 2001 Lower Dauphin High School team. She participated in the 2002 Futures Elite program and earned 2001 Mid-Penn Commonwealth All-Star honors. She was also named to the 2001 Patriot News Big 11 second team and the 2001 Pennsylvania High School Field Hockey Coaches Association All-State second team. Kastelic's team won the silver medal in the 2001 Keystone State Games and was the gold medal winner in 2000. She also played for the the Keystone State Winter Game gold medal winning team in 2000. Kastelic was named to the 2000 Georgi Classic All-Star team.
"Jen comes to us from a very successful high school program," said Bustin. "She has benefitted from excellent coaching and enjoyed being part of a long time field hockey legacy at Lower Dauphin H.S."
Rachel Overton, a defender from Newbury Park, Calif., was a two-time member of the U-19 all-California State field hockey team and participated in the Futures Talent Identification Program in 2000 and 2001. She trains twice a week with the U.S. Men's field hockey coach and has participated in scrimmages against the U.S. Boys National Team. She also played in the U-19 National Hockey Festival in West Palm Beach her junior and senior years. Overton has been a member of the U-19 team, Camarillo Field Hockey Club since 1999.
As a junior, she played in the AAU Junior Olympics and the U-16 National Futures Tournament. She also lettered in soccer at Newbury Park High School and has been a member of the Newbury Park High School Athletic Training Program for four years.
"Rachel has grown and developed on the West Coast," said Bustin. "She has been fortunate to play with many of the men who compete on our Men's National Team. The club system prevails in her neighborhood providing her with an intense degree of competition."
"I am extremely pleased with the level of talent and quality of character that both Jen and Rachel will bring to our program," said Bustin. "They each are innately motivated to improve and are ready for the next challenge of their young careers. Both are wonderful students and committed athletes. Team Cardinal Field Hockey is excited to welcome them to our family."
