Ohio edges field hockey 3-2 in 2OT

OXFORD, Ohio - The eighth-ranked University of Louisville field hockey team lost to Ohio University 3-2 in double overtime Saturday in the semifinals of the Mid-American Conference Championship.
The Bobcats got on the scoreboard midway through the first half when Elizabeth Holtzman pushed the ball past Louisville goalkeeper Christy Hershey to give Ohio a 1-0 lead at the 16:21 mark.
Louisville answered less than two minutes into the second half when Olivia Netzler connected on a pass from Pip Sanders to tie the game at 1-1.
The Cardinals pulled ahead 2-1 when Sanders nailed a shot from the top of the circle at the 10:24 mark in the game.
Ohio tied the game with 10 seconds remaining in regulation when Lindsay Rothenberger scored on a feed from Andrea Voros. Louisville outshot Ohio 15-11 in regulation while the teams were tied with five corners each.
The teams battled through a scoreless 15 minute overtime period, both teams had five shots on goal and Louisville held a 5-3 penalty corner advantage in the first overtime frame.
The second overtime period was scoreless until Ohio's Jenn Watt pushed in a rebound off of Hershey's pads to give the Bobcats the 3-2 win.
Louisville outshot Ohio 25-19 and held a 13-9 penalty corner advantage in the game. Hershey had seven saves in the contest. The Cardinals finish the season with a 13-8 overall record.
