LOUISVILLE, KY - Incoming freshman golfer Mark Anderson, a native of Sioux Falls, S.D., narrowly missed the cut at the U.S. Amateur Championships held in Atlanta, Ga. Anderson's two-round score of 145 put him one shot behind the cut line of 144. The 64 golfers at +2 or lower move onto match-play competition at the East Lake Golf Club.
"This is a tremendous accomplishment for Mark to be competitive on the national level," said U of L men's golf coach Mark Crabtree. "I know this experience will help him make an immediate impact on our program."
Anderson opened with 74 and closed with a 71 as one of 312 competitors playing for a spot in the match-play tournament.
A state champion in South Dakota, Anderson and his Cardinal teammates will tee it up Sept. 10-11 with a trip to the Mid-Pines Intercollegiate in Southern Pines, N.C.
