LOUISVILLE, KY -- University of Louisville men's golf coach Mark Crabtree announced today that Canadian Charlie Woo has signed a national letter of intent to continue his education and play golf for the Cardinals.
"We are pleased to have a player of Charlie's caliber joining our program," said Crabtree. "He is, without a doubt, one of the premier junior players in all of Canada. He is a winner and knows what it takes to win golf tournaments."
A native of Ontario, Canada, Woo was a member of the 2000 Canadian National Junior Team. He also captured the 2000 Ontario Junior Masters Championship firing a 54-hole total of 205 (-11) in which all three of his rounds were in the 60s.
Woo is a multiple winner on the Canadian Junior Tour over the past three seasons with wins at tournaments such as the Richmond Junior Open, the Horseshoe Valley Junior Open and the Diamondback Junior Open.
"I really like Charlie's focus and dedication to the game," added Crabtree. "He has a wonderful swing and has been taught outstanding fundamentals. He has the ability to post low numbers in a competitive situation."
Woo is expected to join returning senior Grant Sturgeon as the foundation of the Cardinals' 2001-2002 roster.
