LOUISVILLE - Five Louisville players had multi-hit games as the fourth-seeded Cardinals (39-25) eliminated Charlotte (17-32), from the Conference USA Tournament on Friday afternoon at Ulmer Stadium 10-0. Louisville meets third-seeded South Florida tonight at 8:30. The DePaul-Southern Miss game, which started at 7 p.m. EDT, was delayed by rain at 7:31 with the Blue Demons leading 1-0 in the bottom of the second. The winner of the DePaul-Southern Miss game advances to Saturday's 2 p.m. final, while the loser of that game meets the winner of the Louisville-South Florida game at 11 a.m. on Saturday. The winner of the 11 a.m. game meets the winner of Friday night's DePaul-Southern Miss game in the final.
Louisville opened with four runs in the first inning, thanks in part to a pair of Charlotte errors. Kenzie Meisenburg walked, stole second and scored when Melissa Jacobo reached base on an error. Candi Padilla added an RBI double, and Kristi Rozelle contributed an RBI single.
The Cardinals sealed the victory with three more runs each in the sixth and seventh inning. Jessica Rak allowed just two hits, walking three and striking out two to improve to 13-9.
