John Thompson Challenge Classic Receives NCAA Certification

LOUISVILLE, KY -- The NCAA Football Certification Subcommittee gave its approval to 25 post-season bowl games and six pre-season exempt games today. Among the six preseason games certified is the University of Louisville's matchup with New Mexico State. The John Thompson Challenge Classic will be held in Papa John's Cardinal Stadium on August 23, 2001 with kickoff slated for 7:00 p.m. ET. No television plans have been announced.
Proceeds from the Cards' season opener with the Aggies will benefit the John Thompson Foundation. The JTF is a non-profit organization which helps less fortunate children through scholarships and educational programs.
