
Track and Field Finishes Fifth in the Miami Invite

Oxford, Ohio - The University of Louisville men and women's track teams finished fifth this weekend at the Miami University Invitational in Oxford, Ohio. Shola Kadiri and Randalene Sergent won the shot put and the pole vault for the women. Mike Wolfe won the pole vault for the men.
Kadiri won the shot put for the third consecutive time during the outdoor season with a throw of 43'05.00. Sergent won the pole vault for the second straight week, tying a personal best of 12'00.00.
Alicia Cavender ran a personal best time of 4:37.38 in the 1500 meters to finish third. Cavender also finished third in the 800 meters with a time of 2:16.42. Lissette Shannon finished third in the 100 meters with a time of 12.12 and Marian McDonald finished fourth with a time of 12.16.
Mindy Helman posted a season best jump, clearing 5'05.00 in the high jump to finish third. Melissa Gale finished third in the discus throw with a mark of 132'06.00.
Mike Wolfe continued to improve in the pole vault with a season best mark of 15'11.75, winning the event.
JR McCleney ran a time of 1:55.24 in the 800 meters to finish fourth. Freshman Matt Simmons ran a season best time of 14.89 in the 110 meter hurdles to finish fifth.
The Cardinals will be back in action this weekend in the Mt. Sac Relays and the Long Beach State Open.
