
Track and Field Has Strong Performances in Cincinnati

Cincinnati, Ohio - The University of Louisville put in some impressive performances today. On the men's side John Wawrysh won the discus with a throw of 164'08.00. On the women's side, Shola Kadiri won the shot put with a toss of 13.34m.
Alicia Cavender finished second in the 800 meters with a time of 2:16.10. Sophomore jumper Brittany Hedgepeth finished second in the long jump with a distance of 18'01.50. Sophomore Kelly Faber finished second in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.98. And senior Cindy Roberson finished second in the pole vault clearing 11'00.00.
Sophomore sprinter Marian McDonald finished third in the 100 meters with a time of 12.41 and teammate Lissette Shannon finished fourth with a time of 12.45. In the 200 meters, McDonald finished fifth with a time of 25.77. Alanna Mestelle and Shannon finished sixth and seventh with times of 25.94 and 26.07 respectively. Freshman Ify Akubeze finished fourth in the long jump with a distance of 17'11.75.
For the men, two-sport athlete Allen Carroll finished third in the long jump with a jump of 22'09.25. This marked Carroll's first competition. Mike Wolfe followed up last week's performance by finishing fourth in the pole vault, clearing 15'06.00.
David Mudd finished fifth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 56.04. JR McCleney finished fifth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 49.66. And wrapping up the men's top performances is Curtis Persinger, finishing fourth in the 800 meters with a time of 1:55.54.
