Men's Golf in 12th Place at Xavier Invitational

MASAON, OHIO -- The University of Louisville men's golf team stands alone in 12th place after 36 holes of the Xavier Invitational. The Cardinals fired rounds of 295 and 287 but enter the final round 20 shots behind Day One leader Western Kentucky.
Senior Grant Sturgeon opened his day with a two-over par 73 and closed Day One with a one-under 70 to tie seven other golfers in 18th place. Sturgeon's 143 puts him 12 strokes behind leader Erik Herberth of Ohio but just three shots out of the top 10.
Freshman Mark Anderson and sophomore Matt Bascom are tied in 42nd place afer firing four-over par 146.
The tournament concludes with 18 holes of action on Tuesday morning.
