Cardinal Men Finish Fourth at Eastern Kentucky Cross Country Open

RICHMOND, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's cross country team finished fourth at the Eastern Kentucky Open Friday evening. The 8000m race was held at the Arlington Golf Course in Richmond.
Host Eastern Kentucky won the team title in the six-school event, while Cumberland College placed second.
Sophomore Curtis Persinger led the Cardinals with a time of 28:52.83 to place 14th. Freshman Brian Hurst (28:54.86) and junior Chris Cox (28:56.73) were right behind him with finishes of 15th and 16th, respectively. Also finishing in the top 20 for the Cards were juniors Mike Horan (18th) and Tim Franxman (20th).
Cumberland's Jon Stein won the race with a time of 27:00.80.
The Cardinals will take a couple weeks off before traveling to Greenville, N.C., for the Conference USA Championships on October 27. The women's team, which did not compete today, will also be off until the C-USA Championships.
