LOUISVILLE, KY -- University of Louisville junior running back Tony Stallings was named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week following his 15-carry, 144-yard performance in the Cardinals' 40-34 overtime win over Kentucky.
The 5-11, 210-pound Stallings scored twice in the contest including a 25-yard gamewinning burst up the middle on the Cards' first play of the extra session. Stallings also scored on a one-yard dive midway through the third quarter to give U of L a 20-19 lead.
An all-freshman choice at linebacker in 1998 by C-USA coaches and media, Stallings combined with junior college transfer Chris Lester for more than 200 rushing yards in the victory over the Wildcats.
Stallings and his Cardinal teammates return to the gridiron this Saturday as they play host to Grambling University. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.
